Freddy, a.k.a. Fredricka Velasquez
How did a computer get a last name? Easy--it took the name of its designer, Allie Velasquez, who gave it a sexy female voice and named it Fredricka. Is it legal for Fredricka Velasquez to place calls and make discreet inquiries of people, even if 'she' is an 'it', i.e., a Neural Emulation Technology computer? Beats me. But this one does. I could try to describe Freddy's software and hardware--massive parallel processing, artificial neural networks and nerd-talk like that--but Rumford's question gets to the nub: "Is the gizmo any good?" My answer: yes. Except for her jokes. With humor, she's hopeless. go to Chapter 1 |
